Lantra Scotland Awards 2016

New generation of talent celebrated at Lantra Scotland Awards 2016
With Modern Apprenticeship Week in full swing, it was fitting that the efforts of some of the country’s most talented trainees were recognised at Lantra Scotland’s Land-based and Aquaculture Learner of the Year Awards ceremony, which took place recently at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro Hotel.
Organised by Lantra Scotland, the sector skills council for the land-based, aquaculture and environmental industries, the awards are vital for recognising the efforts of trainees, Modern Apprentices, students, pupils, teachers, tutors, training providers and schools involved in the rural sectors. The awards also play an important role in encouraging employers to invest in skills for the future, a vital prerequisite to a healthy, vibrant rural sector.
This year’s glittering ceremony was attended by some of the sector’s leading figures and hosted by Jim McLaren, former NFU Scotland President and current Chairman of Quality Meat Scotland. One of the evening’s highlights was an inspiring keynote speech by Finulla McCloskey, winner of the Horticulture Learner of the Year award in 2012.
Lantra Scotland is supported by the Scottish Government.
